Join us as we explore a mathematical investigation that develop deep mathematical understandings as students see mathematics’ role in their lives and community practices and as a tool to understand, critique, and act regarding issues in our world. Participants attending this session will (a) discuss how to integrate issues of injustice in the upper elementary math classroom, (b) articulate what math for social justice means to them, and (c) understand the role of context, content, who, what, and when in planning and implementing a social justice math lesson.
