Session Title: The Mathematics of Gerrymandering in a High School Classroom

Description: Fannie Lou Hamer Freedom High School is a small public school in the Bronx that uses project based curriculum and has been working with the Algebra Project for nearly 15 years. In the 11th grade, students study Gerrymandering, manipulating the boundaries of an electoral district to favor one party or class and threatens democracy. In this workshop, students from Fannie Lou will lead participants through some activities and engage in discussions about their work.
